International Organizations

The Prison Phoenix Trust
The Prison Phoenix Trust encourages U.K. prisoners in the development of their spiritual lives,
through the practices of meditation and yoga, working with silence and the breath.

Human Kindness Foundation
The Human Kindness Foundation, founded by Bo and Sita Lozoff, is a non-profit organization which stresses a way of life based on three common principles taught by great sages of all religions: simple living, dedication to service, and a commitment to personal spiritual practice.

Prison Dharma Network
PDN is an American-based nonsectarian Buddhist support network for prisoners, prison volunteers, and correctional workers. An affiliate of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship.

Tricycle Foundation Online Prison Meditation Kit Project
Prisoners in the United States can now request meditation kits through their chaplain or librarian, who will be able to download all the materials directly from the Tricycle site.

Art of Living Foundation Prison SMART Program
This prison program of meditation and yoga has been conducted in India for the past 5 years; it has reached out to over 100 prisons, touching the lives of more than 52,000 inmates. The Art of Living Foundation is the creation of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.


Canadian Organizations

Art of Living Canada
The first Canadian Art of Living prison program was launched at the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre in Brockville, Ontario. A group of inmates participated in the stress management and rehabilitation course from August 15-20, 2007.

Yoga Outreach
Yoga Outreach is a Canadian charity. Its volunteer yoga teachers work with people in health care settings, shelters, treatment facilities, and correctional institutions who would not otherwise have access to the healing effects of yoga. Yoga Outreach supports its volunteer teachers with training and ongoing professional workshops, and provides them with equipment and newsletters for their clients.
